The best way to get around Kigali, Rwanda
There are many ways to get around Kigali. You can take a taxi, drive, walk, or take a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi). My personal favorite out of the four is a boda-boda - and I have done all of them. The only tricky part of a boda-boda is that none of the drivers speak English, and we don’t speak Kinyarwanda. We've used major landmarks like the convention center (the city’s most architecturally significant building), the President’s offices, and the public library (it’s not a small library), and they didn't know where any of them were. Somehow we’ve managed to get where we wanted to go every time!
On our first night in Rwanda, my mom was a hard no on riding a boda-boda because when we were in Uganda, the driving was crazy. But after two beers, she was a hell yeah. When we got on a boda-boda, my helmet did not fit. If I shook my head, it would have fallen off. Riding on the boda-boda was one of the most fun things I have ever done. The roads in Rwanda are the most perfect roads I have ever been on, not a bump in sight. At night no one was on the roads except us, and the breeze felt amazing.
